LOTEMAX® Ointment is the only preservative-free ocular steroid treatment–there is no generic option. So, when you’re at the pharmacy, make sure you receive LOTEMAX® Ointment, if prescribed by your doctor.

If you have been prescribed LOTEMAX® Ointment by your doctor, double-check that you have received it when you check out at the pharmacy—there is no generic equivalent for LOTEMAX® Ointment.

Indication

LOTEMAX® Ointment (loteprednol etabonate ophthalmic ointment) 0.5% is used to treat inflammation and pain following eye surgery.

Important Safety Information

  • LOTEMAX® Ointment should not be used if you have an infection in your eye.
  • To avoid contamination, do not touch your eyelid or surrounding areas with the tip of the tube. The cap should remain on the tube when not in use. Wash your hands before using LOTEMAX® Ointment.
  • Do not use LOTEMAX® Ointment if tamper evident skirt is visible on bottom of cap.
  • Do not wear contact lenses when using LOTEMAX® Ointment. Do not touch the eyelid or surrounding areas with the tip of the tube. The cap should remain on the tube when not in use.
  • Contact your doctor if pain develops or if redness, itching or inflammation becomes aggravated.
  • If you use LOTEMAX® Ointment for longer than 10 days, your doctor may monitor pressure in your eye. Use of medications such as LOTEMAX® Ointment may result in cataract formation or may delay healing after eye surgery.
  • The most common side effect in clinical studies (25%) was eye inflammation.
